Disney actress Debby Ryan and A Rocket To The Moon lead singer Nick Santino realize that love can't cure all in this beautifully shot and finished video that maintains its mystery while making it's point very clear.
Mark Staubach, director: “This is a semi-autobiographical concept inspired by events in my own life. The video follows the story of a young couple that runs away from home when the pain of a prolonged illness becomes too much to handle. We intentionally left the story open ended - not specifying a specific illness, or outcome, opting to let the audience decide for themselves what is happening.
Because this was a passion project, I fought to shoot on sixteen-millimeter, which adds a lot of texture and weight to the image. Photographer Johnny Ching and I have collaborated so much, I knew I could trust him to make the most of our available light. Rik at Panavision Hollywood provided our "A" camera - an ARRI SR3, and a set of Zeiss speeds. Aside from a few sync scenes, the entire video was shot at an elevated 36fps to soften the action a bit.
We incorporated a split diopter as well as some telecine "glass pass" work on select scenes to create a bit of an etherial, dreamy quality. This is most notable whenever anything medical appears on screen.”
